Thanks, Melissa! I am planning on my first cleanse this week. I've been considering doing this cleanse for a while and your post really helped me feel comfortable with the process. Added bonus for me is that I love apples and apple juice, I'm excited and nervous!

Hi Amy, I drank 32 ounces of apple juice each day as a bare minimum the first time I did this liver cleanse. In later rounds on the cleanse I did some apple juice and several apples (1-3) a day because I felt comfortable enough with my body's wisdom to consume lots of malic acid in apples and apple juice without measuring the amounts. I highly recommend doing the exact 32 ounces of apple juice your first time through just to be sure that your experience is smooth (especially since the larger stones seem more likely to come out in your first 1 or 2 cleanses and those are the ones that really require the softening and wider bile ducts).

Cathy, a friend of mine also had her gall bladder removed and still does this Liver & Gallbladder Cleanse with great results (aka lots of gallstones expelled). Gallstones are formed in the liver and any excess are stored in the gallbladder, so it's still entirely appropriate to do the cleanse. Maybe even more so since the gallbladder issues may be because of a backed up and clogged liver. Perhaps the perceived danger is that you may have a lot of gallstones or harder, more calcified ones. I highly suggest you drink lots of apple juice and be sure your colon is clean and clear before and after the cleanse.

Melissa, I had "emergency gall bladder removal" in August 2010. Knowing that, is it still "safe" to do a liver/gall bladder cleanse? I've herd once the gall bladder is removed, it can be dangerous to do the cleanse. Although that makes no sense to me, I would hate to do harm... silly?
