Be Aware of Nutrition Labels!

As our favorite quote from Natalia Rose goes:
"Forget the counts and read the ingredients."

Read our blog posting about
the value of quality ingredients over nutrition labels

While Chocolate Bliss is a packaged food, it's really a combination of live, whole, pristine foods whose nutrition is easily available to your body.

Your body's use of these nutrients is much more efficient because it takes less energy to digest and doesn't include any toxins for your body to store.

How It Tastes

Honestly, it tastes like chocolate milk. You can customize the taste to your desired sweetness and chocolatey-ness. Follow the recipes we list below and it will taste like chocolate milk. Or as one of our friends said, "it reminds me of the Yoohoo drink from my childhood - only healthy!"

Some of Our Favorite Chocolate Bliss Stories

Pass The Chocolate Milk
After her cousin sampled the Chocolate Bliss in Katherine's fridge a couple of times during her visit, this was the next morning's breakfast converation:

Visiting Cousin: "Pass me that chocolate milk there in the fridge"
Katherine: "That's not chocolate milk, that's a nutrient-rich superfood drink."
Visiting Cousin: "I don't care, it still tastes like chocolate milk to me."

Toddlers Cedar & David
Some of our favorite beings in small bodies, Cedar & David, have come to our house to play many times and they ALWAYS ask for more Chocolate Bliss ("chocowate bwiss").

Nadia's Dad
After having had several glasses of the Chocolate Bliss that was stored in the family fridge:
"Boy, that chocolate milk sure makes you poo!"

Note: we recommend you drink as much water as you drink Chocolate Bliss and start with 8 ounces a day so that you have a gentle detox. :)

The Non-Chocolate Lover
Given the choice, Dan will always pick vanilla over chocolate and milk chocolate over dark chocolate. Nevertheless, he's been happily enjoying Chocolate Bliss daily for the last 8+ years.

We also add some extra Tocotrienols to our personal Chocolate Bliss recipe to make it slightly more milk-chocolatey.

How To Use Chocolate Bliss

Recipes are below for making Chocolate Bliss as a chocolate-milk-tasting superfood drink. You can also add the Chocolate Bliss powder to a favorite fruit or green smoothie, a superfood bowl, energy bars, or any other raw food creation you like to eat.

Advice For Using Chocolate Bliss

  • Keep it raw.
Don't heat Chocolate Bliss over 115 degrees or you will lose some of the nutrient power, the enzymes, and the adaptogenic superfoods will become stimulants. If you prefer a warm drink, heat it on low or make a concentrated Chocolate Bliss that you can add hot water to.

  • Drink as much water as you drink Chocolate Bliss.
These superfoods are packed full of nutrients which may cause your body to discharge stored toxins. Drinking water helps to flush out toxins and deliver nutrients to your cells.

  • Have Chocolate Bliss before cooked foods, junk foods or medications.
Raw superfoods travel through your digestive tract faster than cooked foods. If you consume cooked foods, junk foods or chemical medications at the same time or right before Chocolate Bliss you may experience an upset stomach. If you ever experience too much detoxification, we recommend you stick with Chocolate Bliss as the first meal of the day and plenty of water.

  • Keep the Chocolate Bliss drink cold.
Once you've made Chocolate Bliss it needs to be kept cold or the oils in the hemp seeds and other superfoods will start to degrade. If you don't have access to a fridge, we recommend using a thermos and some ice cubes.

  • Drink it within 1 week of mixing it with water.
Chocolate Bliss blended with water (and a sweetener) will stay good in the fridge for 1 week. You'll know if it has passed its prime because it will smell and taste a little off.

  • Store the powder in the fridge or freezer.
The hemp seeds and tocotrienols have natural oils in them. Your Chocolate Bliss powder will stay fresh longer if you keep it in a dark, cool place. Kept in the fridge or freezer the Chocolate Bliss powder should be good for a year or more.

Meal Replacement and Energy Snack

We find the simplest way to use Chocolate Bliss is to make a gallon at a time, keep it in the fridge, and drink it whenever you're hungry.

For us, that's an 8 ounce glass for breakfast and several 4-8 ounce glasses throughout the day as snacks or pick-me-ups (mixed in with other foods throughout the day too).

Sometimes Melissa will have a 4 ounce glass before making dinner if she's feeling urgently hungry - it keeps her from devouring junk foods and gives her the relaxed energy to fix a healthy meal.

We also travel with Chocolate Bliss and use it as our core food & fuel when we have long days teaching the Avatar® Course. Throughout a 15 hour full-on day we each sip on an 18 ounce thermos of Chocolate Bliss and find our energy levels are high and we are perfectly satisfied with one chew-food meal during the day. Learn more about Traveling with Chocolate Bliss.

Mental Clarity Vs. Physical Energy

Chocolate Bliss is an ideal food for mental clarity activities like computer work, office work, long road trip drives, and full days learning or teaching.

If you're doing more physical activities, like athletic workouts or intensive physical labor, you may find you require more protein than what is in the Chocolate Bliss powder. We recommend adding the Sun Warrior Protein Powder, more Hemp Seeds, and/or Coconut Oil to the Chocolate Bliss mix for times when you are more physically active.

Chocolate Bliss As A Cleanse or for Weight Loss

Drinking Chocolate Bliss daily will act as a gentle cleanse for your body. Eating these high quality nutrients enables your body to release toxins and rebuild cellular tissues. Most people experience desirable weight loss or right-sizing to their natural weight.

If you'd like to use Chocolate Bliss as a cleanse, to lose weight, to ease diabetes, or to stop addictions to unhealthy substances, we recommend you call us for a superfood consultation so we can help you customize a balanced cleansing plan for your specific situation.

Chocolate Bliss Recipes

1 Blender of Chocolate Bliss / Smoothie

Chocolate Bliss 4½ Cups pure water
½ Cup Chocolate Bliss mix
(or 6 Tbsp if you like it less chocolatey)
$5 + S/H
½ Cup Vanilla Agave Nectar
(or substitute 6 Tablespoons honey or 10 Medjool dates if you are getting the Chocolate Bliss sample pack and don't have Agave)

Blend until smooth (works best in a Vitamix or other high powered blender). You may also desire to make a thicker smoothie by adding fresh or frozen fruit (we like bananas) and/or activated nuts (cashews or walnuts are particularly yummy). Chill and shake well before drinking. Enjoy!

1 Gallon of Chocolate Bliss - Standard Recipe

Chocolate Bliss 3 Cups pure water
(Bliss blends best with this much water but you can do more or less to make it work in your blender ... you'll be adding more water soon)

1¼ Cups Chocolate Bliss mix
$50 + S/H
1 Cups Vanilla Agave Nectar

Blend until smooth (works best in a Vitamix or other high powered blender), pour into a gallon-sized sealable container, and then fill the rest up with pure water. Shake well, and then chill.

Tip: We use 2 half-gallon glass containers for our Bliss.

To make a concentrate for warm drinks, fill your gallon container only to the halfway mark when adding the water. Then you can use half of the chilled concentrate and half warm water each time you serve yourself. Enjoy!

Our Personal Chocolate Bliss Recipe

We make a gallon of Chocolate Bliss in order to reduce time in the kitchen. This recipe will last in the fridge for about 7 days. We like the flavors of the added superfoods and the superfood benefits.

3 Cups pure water
(Bliss blends best with this much water but you can do more or less to make it work in your blender ... you'll be adding more water soon)

1 Cups Vanilla Agave Nectar
1¼ Cups Chocolate Bliss mix
$50 + S/H
1 Tbsp Bee Pollen
Great for B Vitamins and hormone balancing. Has a slightly floral taste.
$30 + S/H
1 Tbsp Tocotrienols
Creates a creamier, frothier bliss - more like milk chocolate, high in natural vitamin E
$20 + S/H
1 Tbsp Pristine Guarana
An adaptogenic that gives your bliss a mocha-like flavor and gives you more energy and focus
Temporarily Unavailable
1 tsp Pristine Yerba Matte
An adaptogenic that tastes a little like green-tea and gives you more blissful state of awareness and relaxation
2 tsp

Maca
Builds and balances hormones. Has a slightly malty taste.

$35 + S/H
1 Tbsp Vitamineral Green
We don't always add this in - like every other gallon depending on how many greens we're eating outside of our Bliss. Do NOT heat your Bliss if you add in greens (ew)
$65 + S/H

Blend until smooth (works best in a Vitamix or other high powered blender), pour into a gallon-sized sealable plastic container, and then fill the rest up with pure water. Shake well, and then chill.

TIP: We add our Vanilla Agave Nectar right after the water so we can use the measuring marks on the side of our blender and avoid dirtying an extra measuring cup.

Enjoy!

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Is Chocolate Bliss a meal replacement, a meal, a snack or what?
Chocolate Bliss can be used as a meal replacement or as a snack. We use it as breakfast daily and then mixed in with other raw food snacks throughout the day, followed by a healthy cooked meal at the end of the day.

Chocolate Bliss seems like it would be ideal for lunch, since I often can’t get away. How do you recommend taking it to work and keeping it cold?
We have perfected the art of traveling with Chocolate Bliss using a thermos and some ice cubes. Read our blog posting Traveling with Chocolate Bliss to find out the specific thermos and proportions we use.

How long will a 1 lb jar of Chocolate Bliss last most people?
Most people drink 1-2 8 ounce glasses of Chocolate Bliss a day. That means they will drink up to a gallon of Chocolate Bliss in a week. A 1 lb jar makes between 3-4 gallons of Chocolate Bliss (depending on how chocolatey you like it). That means using a little more than 1 jar a month, or about 4 jars over 3 months.

Chocolate Bliss seems expensive for a 1 lb jar. What is the breakdown of the cost per 8 oz. serving?
Based on our recipe of 1.25 Cups of Chocolate Bliss and 1 Cup of Vanilla Agave Nectar in one gallon of Chocolate Bliss, an 8 ounce service of Chocolate Bliss costs $1.43. We think that's an excellent price for such a high quality, nutrient rich food that upgrades health so quickly and easily.

How long do I have to drink Chocolate Bliss before I will notice any changes?
It depends on the person. Melissa noticed a huge difference with her first sips: her brain fog cleared and she felt energized. She also stopped drinking her morning cup of coffee immediately. We both lost weight (without working out) and inches around our waist line within 1-2 months.

How quickly you notice changes, and what changes you notice, will depend on how much water you drink with your Chocolate Bliss, what else you eat in your diet, what you remove from your diet, and what physical activities you do.

If there are specific changes you desire (like body conditions you want to overcome), please contact us for a superfood consultation so we can advise you on what additional superfoods or lifestyle upgrades would help you meet your goals.

There are a lot of ingredients in Chocolate Bliss I’ve never heard of. Is it going to taste weird? What does it taste like?
Most people think Chocolate Bliss tastes like a delicious chocolate milk (especially when prepared using our recipes). All of the ingredients are pristine whole foods, so there is never any chemical aftertaste. Many of the ingredients are slightly medicinal foods, so they can be bitter on their own, which is why we always add some kind of sweetener to the powdered mix.

What if I’m not a fan of dark chocolate?
You can make Chocolate Bliss taste more like milk chocolate by adding more sweetener, more Tocotrienols, or more Hemp Seeds.

What if the Chocolate Bliss tastes too sweet for me?
You can customize how you make your own Chocolate Bliss drink. Use less sweetener or a different sweetener. For example, Palm Sugar tastes less sweet than Vanilla Agave Nectar.

I’m trying to cut out sugar. Do I have to use a sweetener with Chocolate Bliss?
Many of the ingredients of Chocolate Bliss are slightly medicinal foods, so they can be bitter on their own, which is why we always add some kind of sweetener to the powdered mix. You can use any sweetener you like, and at any amount you like, but unless you love bitter dark chocolate, you'll probably want some kind of sweetener.

What sweeteners work best?
We love the Vanilla Agave Nectar with Chocolate Bliss because it's low glycemic and the vanilla adds a rich smoothness to the taste. We also enjoy using honey and a mix of Palm Sugar and honey (the Palm Sugar is not as sweet as honey or agave).

Some customers have also used dates, stevia, xylitol, bananas and maple syrup.

What sweeteners don’t you recommend?
We do NOT recommend any agave besides the Vanilla Agave Nectar. Most agaves on the market are processed with high fructose corn syrup or have other quality issues. We've tried several and had headaches and stomach aches from them. Read our blog posting about Agave Quality.

Can I add greens to my Chocolate Bliss and still have it taste good? What do you recommend?
Yes! Chocolate Bliss is an excellent way of disguising the taste of greens. In small enough amounts the chocolate flavor of bliss will overpower any green aftertaste. We recommend using 1 Tbsp of Vitamineral Green in 1 gallon of Chocolate Bliss. You might be able to get away with more than that, but most people won't notice the flavor difference at that ratio.

What blender do you recommend for making Chocolate Bliss? Will a regular kitchen blender work good enough?
We recommend the Vitamix blender for Chocolate Bliss and all of our raw recipes. It's a champ!

We also use a little Hamilton Beach blender when we travel and it works just fine for making Chocolate Bliss on the road. For less powerful blenders like this and a regular kitchen blender you may need to use a little less water when making your Bliss and pulse it a few more times so that the hemp seeds get nice and creamy.

How long will the blended Chocolate Bliss drink keep in the refrigerator?
Chocolate Bliss blended with water (and a sweetener) will stay good in the fridge for 1 week. You'll know if it has passed its prime because it will smell and taste a little off.

Chocolate Bliss will settle as it sits. Simply shake it well before your pour and drink.

What is the best way to store the powdered Chocolate Bliss mix?
Store the Choclate Bliss powder in the fridge or freezer. The hemp seeds and tocotrienols in Chocolate Bliss have natural oils in them. Your Chocolate Bliss powder will stay fresh longer if you keep it in a dark, cool place.

How long can the powdered Chocolate Bliss mix be stored?
Kept in the fridge or freezer the Chocolate Bliss powder should be good for a year or more.

How does Chocolate Bliss work on road trips? Any tips and tricks?
We love Chocolate Bliss for road trips! We use our personal Chocolate Bliss recipe that has guarana and yerba matte in it. Whoever's driving has about a 4 ounce swig of Chocolate Bliss from the thermos and is fully energized for driving. Since the superfoods are adaptogenics it's easy to take a nap while the other person is driving.

We've done 36 hour road trips non-stop with 2 drivers and Chocolate Bliss and Dan has done 24 hour road trips with Chocolate Bliss and one rest-stop nap. In all our road trips with Chocolate Bliss we've always felt alert for driving without being jittery or too amped up to sleep when it's time to sleep.

To successfully road trip with Chocolate Bliss, do NOT add greens to the drink and keep it cold in a thermos with some ice, refilling the ice as it melts.

Can I use Chocolate Bliss if I’m pregnant or nursing?
Yes, David Favor designed Chocolate Bliss as a raw food meal for pregnant and nursing mothers. The densely nutritious superfoods provide excellent nourishment for mothers. However, it is NOT recommended to add the high-powered superfoods like Guarana and Yerba Matte.

I'm gluten intolerant. Can I use Chocolate Bliss?
Yes, Chocolate Bliss is gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free and delicious!

I work out a lot and feel like I need more protein than is in the Chocolate Bliss. Do you recommend anything I could add to the Chocolate Bliss?
We recommend adding the Sun Warrior Protein Powder, more Hemp Seeds, and/or Coconut Oil to the Chocolate Bliss mix for times when you are more physically active.

I’m really wanting to get off of Coffee.  Can Chocolate Bliss help? What do you recommend?
Yes, Chocolate Bliss can help. Melissa and others have successfully stopped drinking coffee (and other caffeine sources) by adding Chocolate Bliss into their diets.

If you're a big coffee drinker, we recommend adding Guarana and Yerba Matte to your Chocolate Bliss in order to have the high-powered energy you're accostomed to, without the jitters or other side-effects of caffeine.

Watch this video on YouTube to learn more about how Melissa used Chocolate Bliss to get off of coffee.
